Barcelona manager Xavi has revealed they had a deal in place in January for Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo, but the English club blocked the move.
Cancelo spent the second half of the season on loan with Bayern Munich.
However, the Portuguese winger could easily be transferred to the Camp Nou, if the deal is not blocked by the English club.
“We wanted to sign him in January,” the Barcelona coach first recalled.
“He was offered to us and we said yes. But Manchester City discussed it and told us that they didn’t want him to come to Barcelona”, concluded Xavi.
Barcelona are again interested in Cancelo for next season and the player’s price is said to have already come down.
It is said that the citizens now demand only 40 million euros for Cancelo.
