‘He’s a brilliant footballer’: Ten Hag reveals his plans for Martial

Giving an update on Anthony Martial’s fitness and his plans for the forward, Erik ten Hag has said the Frenchman is a brilliant footballer.

Manchester United are said to have yet to accept any offer for the forward, while the Dutch coach has given him hope that he can stay for another season.

“Today, he was in team training, that’s really hopeful. Of course, when you have a player in your squad, you expect him to be available and players have to take responsibility. If not, I have to face the situation and we have shown that we can be successful without that striker”, said Ten Hag.

“But it’s easier when you have that striker in the team, I think every club that wins big trophies has scoring ability in their team.”

“We need a good team and Anthony Martial is an excellent footballer, so he will help us, he scores goals and in other areas such as pressing and combinations, he is a great player, we hope that he is fit and stays fit”, added the Dutch strategist.

It seems that Ten Hag intend to use Martial when he regains form and have him in his plans for next season. This could be due to the lack of interest from other clubs in signing him, with some rumors only linking him to Saudi Arabia.

Martial was unable to complete the full 90 minutes in a single game last season and has struggled with his fitness throughout last year.
