Paris Saint-Germain appear to be making contingency plans in case Kylian Mbappe leaves this summer, and they could affect Barcelona.
It was reported in France yesterday that PSG have a strong interest in winger Ousmane Dembele, who has a release clause of just €50 million.
Now Cadena SER reports that the French club are also looking at the possible transfer of midfielder Pedri.
The 20-year-old midfielder is probably the last player Barcelona would want to sell and is likely to be on their hands.
Despite reports that he has a temporary release clause of 110 million euros, the Parisians will have to pay 1 billion euros to activate his release clause.
They also say that Luis Enrique is not responsible for their interest, or at least has not asked them to move for the ‘diamond’ of his former club.
Overall, Barcelona are not thought to be concerned by this alleged interest. Apart from their stance on a sale, Pedri himself is thought to be committed to long-term success at Barcelona.
It seems highly unlikely that Pedri will consider a move at this point. He has a crucial role at Barcelona, still has a long way to go in Europe, has just won his first title and signed a new contract in 2022.
