Dutch defender Nathan Ake has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester City.
The 28-year-old’s new deal runs until the summer of 2027, with the extension coming at the end of his best season.
He made 41 appearances and scored three goals in all competitions during the 2022/23 treble-winning season, emerging as one of the most reliable players in English football.
The defender, who operates both centrally and on the left wing, says City’s training set-up offers him the best environment to continue his rapid improvement and believes working with Guardiola has allowed him to see football in a new way.
“This is the best club in the world, I have no doubt about that. Being a Manchester City player makes me incredibly proud every day,” said Ake first.

“It’s a football club that expects excellence in every area, which makes the perfect environment even better. It pushes me and makes me better. I’m at the stage of my career where I want to continue developing and I can definitely do that here.”
“Pep is the best coach in football – a genius who has made me see the game differently – so to be able to work with him longer is a real privilege. I am very grateful to him for everything he has done for me, both personally and professionally.”
“I also want to thank the City fans for their support. I have really felt it since I came here and it helps me a lot. My focus now is to make them proud and win more trophies”, concluded the Dutchman.
