Chelsea have been dealt a heavy blow as this summer’s most expensive signing Christopher Nkunku will be sidelined for an extended period.
The French star was injured in the friendly match against Borussia Dortmund in the United States of America and left the game in the 20th minute.
Now the London club has announced that Nkunku has suffered a knee injury and has undergone an operation.
The 25-year-old will be sidelined for a long period of four months.
The French representative will miss over 25 games during this time between the championship and the state Cups.
His return to the field is expected to take place at the end of December or at the beginning of January.
