Barcelona are anxious as this summer’s most sensational signing Ilkay Gundogan may not register at all.

The Catalans have only until Sunday to register the German midfielder and if this does not happen, then Gundogan will leave Barcelona without playing any official match.

“Forbes” has reported that there is a special clause in the German’s contract according to which the midfielder is free to look for another team until the end of August if his federation does not materialize.

This sends managers into a panic, as they could miss out on the most important shot of the summer transfer window.

Coach Xavi sees Gundogan as a regular starter in the team and a very important player for his schemes.

The other bad news is that his clause can be voided as if registration fails before the start of La Liga, the player’s contract is not activated, meaning the German will leave the club for free.

The 32-year-old joined Barcelona as a free transfer from Manchester City and has signed a two-year contract with the club with a salary of 10 million euros per year, with the option of one more year.

Barcelona has managed to register only 13 players for the new season, while 11 others have remained, including the club’s new acquisitions.
