Sadio Mane has revealed that two of his former team-mates told him to turn down a move to Saudi Arabian Super League club Al Nassr.
Last summer, Mane ended his six-trophy spell with Liverpool to join German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
However, the Senegalese’s time at Bayern was forgettable as he failed to show his best football.
Earlier in the month, it was confirmed that Mane has joined forces with Cristiano Ronaldo by signing for Al Nassr.
The 31-year-old has now revealed that his former Liverpool team-mates urged him not to accept Al Nassr’s offer.
“I think that first of all I spoke with Firmino. I think he wanted me to go to the wrong club – just kidding! He always called two or three times to convince me to go to Al Ahli,” Mane initially told The National.
“At the same time I spoke to Fabinho because he was quite close to me and he also wanted me to go to Al Ittihad, but at this time when Al Nassr came, I chose Al Nassr.”
“Of course Henderson is here as well, and he texted me two days ago to wish me luck and I’m excited to meet all these great guys and also to meet them face to face for the first time. I will win against you guys!”, concluded the Senegalese.
