Manchester City confirms Guardiola’s return after back surgery

Pep Guardiola is back on the Manchester City bench after back surgery that kept him out for three weeks.

The Catalan coach was in Barcelona for surgery on a back problem and in his absence, the team was led by first assistant Juan Manuel Lillo.

However, it didn’t last long and the famous Spanish expert is already ready for new challenges with the club from the Etihad.

“The manager returned to City’s Football Academy this week following his recovery from routine back surgery in Spain last month,” the statement read.

The reigning Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup winners beat Sheffield United (2-1) and Fulham (5-1) in Guardiola’s absence to stay top of the table with four wins.

City will visit West Ham on Saturday, while in the group stage of the Champions League next Tuesday they will play at home against Crvena Zvezda.
