Real Madrid have had plenty of injury problems already this season, but it looks like they will be without a key piece for at least the next two fixtures.
According to Arancha Rodriguez, Carvajal has had a small muscle problem in training and is expected to be the next absentee in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
While it is not significant and the relevant tests have not yet been carried out, Carvajal looks set to miss their Champions League opener against Union Berlin on Wednesday and the derby against Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.
This report has been confirmed by media outlet Diario AS, who say his total recovery time is likely to be 10 days.
That is likely to rule him out of their clash with Las Palmas next Wednesday as well, while their trip to face Girona could also be under threat if his recovery is slower.
Carvajal has been at his best through five games this season, causing huge problems for opponents as he gets going. His contribution has been essential in their efforts in attack and defence.
Lucas Vazquez is likely to be the replacement for Carvajal, although Carlo Ancelotti may bring in Nacho Fernandez if he wants a more solid defensive option.
