Yacine Adli rejected all the offers that came his way and insisted on staying at Milan this summer, as he wanted to be given the opportunity under Stefano Pioli’s orders, something that is likely to come true considering Rade Krunic’s injury.
The Rossoneri signed the 23-year-old from Bordeaux in the summer of 2021 for €8.5 million, but immediately loaned him out before welcoming him to San Siro last season.
In his first season with Milan, Adli struggled to find space in the formation, playing only 140 minutes or otherwise only six matches, in which he started only one from the first minute.
In the summer transfer window, the French midfielder was linked with a number of clubs including Salernitana, Empoli and Sassuolo, but he turned them all down simply because he wanted to prove himself at Milan.
As reported by the media in Italy, Adli is expected to fill the void left by Krunic’s injury, and he is expected to play in the next game against Cagliari, which will be their first after several months as a substitute.
Pioli announced this idea in a press conference.
“Krunic has a muscle problem. It is difficult for him to return in the next matches, but we have other alternatives, here is Adli whom I have tried in that position and we can change something in the attack phase”, said Pioli.
The match between Cagliari and Milan will take place on Wednesday, starting at 18:30.
