The sensational coach of the Premier League club appears as a contender to succeed Ancelotti at Real Madrid

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti came under huge pressure on Monday morning following their derby defeat to Atletico Madrid. With his contract expiring at the end of the season, the Madrid media have already begun lining up potential replacements.

Alvaro Arbeloa and Raul Gonzalez have been mentioned as possible options, but Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has emerged as the main contender for the position.

For the latter, even Ancelotti has emphasized that he hopes that Alonso will be in his place one day.

However, according to Cadena SER, Real Madrid’s shortlist is longer than just these three names. According to their information, Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi has joined the list of contenders.

The Italian coach has previously been linked with the Barcelona job and his excellent work at Brighton has led some to believe he could end up succeeding Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Jesus Gallego, who leaked the information, noted that Los Blancos are a long way from making a decision and Alonso appears to be the strong favourite.

Given his amazing Brighton squad, it is to be expected that most top teams will consider De Zerbi. Bringing success and exciting football to the Premier League, few would argue against his signing.
