Bayer Leverkusen’s coach, Xabi Alonso, has given up talks about returning to Real Madrid.
Xabi has been mentioned as a serious successor to Carlo Ancelotti, who has a contract with Los Blancos until the end of the current season.
However, the new Spanish coach doesn’t seem that interested in the Real Madrid hot seat at this time.
“Coaching Madrid? It’s September, it’s early,” Xabi answered questions about the link to Real Madrid’s post.
“I stay focused. We started the season well, we want all the players to be focused. That’s why I have to be the first”.
Xabi was also asked about his players, how he feels about his team knowing that there are these rumors about the future of their coach.
“The players know how football is. This is nothing new. We haven’t talked about it”, concluded the Spaniard.
