Rapahel Varane with interesting prediction for Manchester United about the Champions League

Raphael Varane has insisted Manchester United have the quality to go all the way in the Champions League despite their difficult start to the season.

United will welcome Turkish side Galatasaray to Old Trafford on Tuesday evening and only a win would set things right for the Ten Hag side after losing their Group A opener to Bayern Munich.

The “Red Devils” come into this match after a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace, a defeat that has seen them drop to 10th in the Premier League after just seven games played.

Varane admits United need to improve quickly, but he sees no reason why they can’t win the Champions League, given the quality they possess as a team.

The Frenchman was asked if United could emulate his former club Real Madrid in Europe’s elite competition.

“Yes, I think so. The quality is in the team. The competition is tough, you have to take care of every detail, but we have a quality team with a good mentality, we need to make some improvements, it wasn’t the start of the season we expected, but I still believe we have the quality to compete with the best teams. best in the world”, said Varane.

“I think the race is about the details and you have to be efficient to win the trophy. In the last moments we need more efficiency, it’s a small number of times we concede goals and we need to create more to score. This is the high level reality, you have to be efficient to win trophies. We have the quality in the squad to win trophies. We have to move forward and improve,” the World Cup winner added.

United’s defeat against Palace confirmed their worst start to a season since 1989, with just nine points taken from their first seven games.

The Ten Hag’s cause has not been helped by a defensive injury crisis, with Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Sergio Reguilon all currently sidelined.
