Juventus are interested in signing Tottenham and Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg during the January transfer window according to the latest reports from England.

The Denmark international has been strongly linked with a move away from north London, as he is not in the plans of new manager Ange Postecoglou.

The English media Mail Sport had earlier reported that during the month of September concrete interest in Hojbjerg’s services had been shown by the Atletico Madrid team, who were ready to make a loan offer with a purchase obligation.

But now, reports in Italy claim Serie A giants Juventus are leading the race to sign the midfielder as they look to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the “Old Lady” have identified Hojbjerg and Sassuolo striker Domenico Berardi as two winter targets.

Juventus were hit with disturbing news last week after Paul Pogba was said to have tested positive for a second doping test.

The maximum suspension in such cases is four years, which can be doubled if it is proven that the substance was taken with intent.

The Italian newspaper suggest that Pogba’s potential suspension will prompt Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri to make a midfield signing such as Hojbjerg.

The Dane has not started in any of the first eight games in the Premier League with the Tottenham shirt.
