
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has put aside the tension of the El Clasico rivalry and sent Gavi a letter of encouragement after the Spanish midfielder suffered a serious knee injury.
Gavi suffered a serious injury for Spain last weekend, rupturing his ACL in the first half of their Euro 2024 qualifier against Georgia.
The midfielder looked very upset after the incident and according to reports he could be sidelined for seven to nine months. Perez used the opportunity to send Gavi a letter of support according to the Spanish medium Cadena Cope .
But Perez wasn’t the only person from Real Madrid to show support for Gavin. Players such as Dani Carvajal and Joselu sent messages of support to the Barcelona midfielder through social networks. Gavi is expected to undergo surgery on November 28, according to the Catalan medium
Barcelona have confirmed Gavi’s injury through an official statement: “The test carried out on Monday morning on first-team player Gavi has shown that he has a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and a meniscus injury. The player will have surgery in the coming days, after which a new medical update will be released.”
After the operation, Gavi will undergo a long rehabilitation process and is expected to return to the field in the 2024/2025 season.
