How can Barcelona terminate Lewandowski’s contract

A clause in Robert Lewandowski’s contract could allow Barcelona to terminate the striker’s contract at the end of the season.

As the Catalan newspaper Sport reports , there is a clause in the Pole’s contract that could cause his contract to be severed from the Blaugrana.

This clause states that if the Pole does not start or play more than 45 minutes in a match for 55 percent of the games during the season, Barcelona have the option to terminate his contract worth millions.

Lewandowski hasn’t been in top form this season, despite scoring a few goals and providing a few assists. When the legendary striker moved from Bayern Munich, he brought high expectations and became an integral part in winning La Liga last season.

However, Barcelona’s struggles on the pitch this season have seen the finger pointed at Lewandowski on occasion, due to his poor performances in some matches.

The 35-year-old is on a hefty salary at Barcelona and considering the club’s financial situation, they are likely to ask for a cut.

Lewandowski won the “Pichichi” award as the best scorer of the season, without scoring a single penalty. He became the first player to achieve this feat since Dani Guiza in 2008.

Meanwhile, this season Jude Bellingham is currently leading the list of the best scorers in the Spanish football elite.

Barcelona face Atletico Madrid tomorrow (Sunday) kick-off at 21:00 and Lewandowski will be hoping to get his name on the scoresheet.
