Haaland leaves open the possibility of moving to Real Madrid

Real Madrid surprised everyone when they decided to enter the new season without a striker after Karim Benzema left for Saudi Arabia.

However, they have kept an eye on next summer and one of their options is Norwegian Erling Haaland.

Kylian Mbappe is the name most linked with a move to Real Madrid over the past two years and with his contract expiring in 2024, Los Blancos are likely to offer him a contract.

Meanwhile, Haaland could be another option for them. The Manchester City star has told his camp that he still ‘dreams’ of playing for Real Madrid and wants to keep that option ‘open’.

Real Madrid are said to have a release clause they can activate if they want to move him.

If Madrid fail to transfer Mbappe, they will focus on the acquisition of Haaland.

Although it has been deemed ‘unlikely’, it is highly unlikely that Mbappe and Haaland will both play for Real Madrid.

City are expected to offer him a new contract with a pay rise but his release clause could make Madrid consider this option.

On the board of the Spanish club there are also those who prefer Haaland to Mbappe because they believe that the Norwegian would fit in better with Vinicius and Rodrygo.

It remains to be seen how things will play out, but it depends entirely on the decision Mbappe makes about his future.
