Joao Felix gave Barcelona the lead against Valencia, but everyone was surprised when the Portuguese didn’t celebrate at all after scoring the goal.

In fact, the Portuguese striker was stunned for a few seconds, smiling, and only after receiving confirmation from the referees that it was not an offside position did he start celebrating with his teammates.

Felix was asked after the match why he didn’t celebrate at all and he gave an explanation that today when VAR is available, goals are often canceled.

“Celebrating a goal these days can leave you with a bitter taste because it’s then disallowed for offside or some foul from five minutes ago.”

“I didn’t know if Raphinha was out of the game or not and that’s the reason I just waited for the confirmation,” the Portuguese forward declared after the match.

Despite Felix’s goal, Barcelona managed no more than a 1-1 draw from their trip to the Mestalla against Valencia.
