Disappointment for Dutch team – they lose key player for EURO2024

The Dutch national team has confirmed that Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong will not appear in Euro 2024 due to injury.

“Frenkie De Jong will not participate in Euro 2024. We are with you, Frenkie,” said the official announcement of the Netherlands on the X platform.

Taking to Instagram, De Jong shared the same photo that the Netherlands used, noting that he is upset and disappointed that he will not be able to play at Euro 2024.

“We’ve done a lot of work over the last few weeks, but my ankle needs more time unfortunately. It is a dream and the greatest honor to represent my country in a competition. To wear the orange jersey, to sing the national anthem and feel the support of the entire state”.

“But now, like all the fans, I will cheer for the team from the stands. Let’s go guys”, wrote De Jong.

De Jong was recovering from an injury he suffered in the defeat to rivals Real Madrid, a game which virtually ruined any chance of the Blaugrana challenging for the La Liga title.
