There is a date when Arda Guler will return to Real Madrid – sooner than expected

Real Madrid have suffered something of an injury crisis in the early stages of the La Liga season, but are starting to look at when players might be available again.

Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois are long-term out after their ACL injuries. Dani Ceballos and Ferland Mendy were expected to return for their 2-1 win over Getafe last weekend, but will return after the international break.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Arda Guler has also set a return date in his mind. The Turk underwent surgery on his meniscus three weeks ago and aims to return in just under three weeks for the Madrid derby, like Vinicius Junior. Los Blancos face Atletico Madrid on September 23 or 24 and Guler is aiming to make the squad for that game.

However, Madrid officials say the club is looking to take things slowly with Guler. They say the club are being cautious with the 18-year-old and would be perfectly happy if it meant waiting until after the second international break in October for his return.

That comes two weeks after the Madrid derby, and a two-week break would see him out until a trip to Sevilla on October 21 or 22.

Real Madrid will be aware of Guler’s enthusiasm to be involved as he has been very fit in training at Valdebebas. However, with such a young talent, they will be desperate to avoid anything that risks long-term effects on the Turkish sensation.
