cMo Salah broke Thierry Henry’s 17-year-old record in Liverpool’s win over Toulouse

Mohamed Salah broke Thierry Henry’s 17-year-old record in Liverpool’s win over Toulouse.

On Thursday, Liverpool beat French side Toulouse 5-1 to move one step closer to the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring before Wataru Endo headed home his first Liverpool goal. Darwin Nunez then scored the third while Ryan Gravenberch scored Liverpool’s fourth.

But it was Salah, who came off the bench in the second half, with the most important goal of the night as the Egyptian broke a record held by Henry for 17 years.

Salah’s extra-time goal was his 43rd goal in European competition for Liverpool. The Reds star has now become the all-time leading goalscorer for an English team in Europe, overtaking Henry.

Despite Salah’s record, most of the talk after the game was about a missed opportunity by Nunez and the good performances of summer signings Endo and Gravenberch.

In a brief post-match interview, Klopp praised the new signings and was happy that the game ended injury-free and gave players with fewer minutes in the Championship a chance.
