A Ronaldo fan claims he has ‘proof’ that the Ballon d’Or is biased towards the Argentine

A Cristiano Ronaldo fan claims there is evidence the Ballon d’Or award is biased in Lionel Messi’s favor after the Argentine won the award for the eighth time.

As expected, Messi received the award from France Football at a ceremony in Paris after leading Argentina to their first World Cup triumph since 1986.

The Inter Miami star accepted the award from David Beckham, the man who brought him to MLS.

After finishing sixth and 20th in 2021 and 2022 respectively, Ronaldo did not make the 30-man shortlist and is now three Ballons d’Or behind Messi.

And one of his biggest fans has written at length on the X platform claiming that this award is working against Ronaldo.

It started by sharing a video where one of the executives tells Ronaldo that Messi’s ‘image’ could be a factor in the votes and continued when they featured Ronaldo in an unenviable position on the cover of a magazine alongside Didier Drogba.

The fan in question also didn’t like comments from former FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who has called Messi a “good guy” and Ronaldo “a commander” and apparently claimed the Barcelona legend gets more vote because he’s a good guy.

He also quoted former boss Michel Platini saying he didn’t deserve the 2014 Ballon d’Or.

He concluded with Ronaldo’s words about the alleged disrespect he receives from FIFA, although the institution has had nothing to do with the Ballon d’Or for several years now.
