Official: Napoli sacks Garcia and appoints Mazzarri

Napoli has announced the dismissal of coach Rudi Garcia after only 16 games and the return of Walter Mazzarri.

President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the decision to sack Garcia just over three months into the season, with a contract set to expire in June 2025.

“Napoli has decided to remove Rudi Garcia from the role of coach. We thank him and his staff for their cooperation so far,” said a statement.

According to the tradition of the time, president De Laurentiis announced the new coach in front of the club’s official account, with a simple message: ‘Welcome Walter!’

The French tactician only moved in the summer after Luciano Spalletti left, having won the club’s first Scudetto in more than 30 years.

Garcia managed 16 competitive matches between Serie A and the Champions League, resulting in eight wins, four draws and four defeats.
