Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick against Gibraltar on Saturday night, completing his 300th career goal.

The France captain had already scored twice as his side began to dismantle the opposition, but he saved the best for his third goal.

As he saw the keeper was off the goal line, Mbappe fired a shot just wide of the halfway mark to complete his personal hat-trick in the match and the 24-year-old’s 300th career goal.

He reached this figure faster than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the duo who dominated world football for more than a decade.

Messi scored his 300th career goal in October 2021, when he was then 25 years old, while Cristiano Ronaldo reached this figure when he was 27 years old.

Mbappe will undoubtedly try to reach the number of goals scored by Messi and Ronaldo. The Argentine counts 821 goals scored during his career, while the Portuguese has 865 so far.

The PSG star is now third in the list of the best goalscorers in the history of the French national team.

Mbappe will make one more appearance for France in their final Euro 2024 qualifier against Greece on Tuesday, before returning to action for PSG as they face Monaco.
