Milan aims to transfer Jonathan David in January

AC Milan will launch a bid to sign Lille striker Jonathan David in the January transfer window.

It’s no secret that the Reds are looking for a new centre-forward to compete with and eventually succeed current starter Olivier Giroud, who turned 37 at the end of September.

Milan’s current back-up options include summer signing Noah Okafor, 23, and former Fiorentina forward Luka Jovic.

They will both have to step up in Giroud’s absence in the next two games as the Frenchman serves his suspension after picking up a 93rd-minute red card against Lecce last weekend.

Meanwhile, Milan are already planning for the future, and would like to bring in an alternative option in attack as soon as possible.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport , David is considered to be a striker who marks all areas of Milan. He offers a different set of characteristics to Giroud and has a lot of experience for a 23-year-old.

His contract expires in the summer of 2025, meaning a January move is not out of the question.

Lille are said to be asking for a price of 40 million euros, which Milan will hope to lower.

Alternatively, Milan will also pursue 27-year-old Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy, who has a release clause set at a reasonable €17 million.
