According to The Athletic, Manchester United could be forced to do without Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a period of time in the new year.

Red Devils fans need not worry – he is not looking to leave in January, nor has there been any concrete interest.

However, the outlet reports that Wan-Bissaka has been approached to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Athletic further add that the defender is considering the option, having mainly represented England during his career.

An international switch would allow him to get more minutes at a higher level. Despite being born in England, Wan-Bissaka is of Congolese descent.

If he accepts the offer, Man United will be without Wan-Bissaka from January 13 until February 11 – depending on how Congo perform at the major tournament hosted by Ivory Coast.
